A mobile phone survey is essentially a data collection method that companies use to gather responses from survey takers via their mobile devices. It doesn’t just involve data collection via online survey form, but can also include things like telephone conversations, Zoom interviews, and more. Mobile phone surveys are usually not restricted to a certain type of smartphone, which means you can take the survey through any type of cell phone device. For instance, some companies require you to only send your survey responses via text messages, and this is something that can be done through any phone.
1. Tele-survey: Here, the researcher places a call to the survey participant and asks survey questions to collect useful information for a systematic investigation. This is one of the oldest forms of survey taking.
2. SMS survey: An SMS survey is a type of mobile survey that involves the company sending survey participants close-ended questions to gather information from them.
3. Video call: With the emergence of video conferencing platforms like Google Meet™ and Zoom, a number of researchers have started using these tools to administer mobile phone surveys. Survey takers will need to download the mobile application through which the call will be conducted on their mobile phones.
4. Online questionnaire: Researchers use several survey sharing methods like embedded forms and social media to share online questionnaires with survey-takers to collect their responses. Unlike paper surveys, this type of survey happens a lot faster and you can take the survey at any time, as long as you have access to the internet to submit the online form.
